Sasbadi’s books are bright, well organised by level and easy to recognise. The website isn’t: navigation is hidden, key content only appears after scrolling animations, and the home page feels like a set of separate blocks. Here is what to fix and a proposed look for the new site.
Visitors see a blank screen with a spinner before anything appears. It makes the site feel slow even after the page is ready.
Catalogue, Download Centre, About and Contact are behind a small “MENU” icon in a dark side bar. Visitors can’t see what the site offers at a glance.
The first thing shown is a photo of the office building with “Official Website”. There’s no message for parents, teachers or bookshops, and no clear next step.
Five coloured tiles (Primary SK, SJK, Secondary, Tertiary, Others) with small labels. There’s no way to go straight to a subject, a year or an exam such as SPM or UASA.
Sections fade in on scroll, and scrolling fast shows large empty white areas. Book rows have uneven gaps, and highlight cards have blank space under short images.
The green “Download Centre (eRevision)” box stays fixed on screen and overlaps headings and search. It’s important, so it belongs in the main navigation.
The proposed look uses a floating pill-shaped navigation bar, a bold headline, soft tinted sections, clear cards and strong call-to-action buttons. Here’s how each idea applies to Sasbadi.
| Design pattern | Replaces on Sasbadi today | How it works for Sasbadi |
|---|---|---|
| Floating pill navigation with a main button | Hidden side menu and the floating Download Centre box | Always-visible links: Buku, Download Centre, Highlights, About, Contact. Search icon, plus a green “Where to buy” button. |
| Big, confident headline hero | Office building photo carousel | A clear promise to students and teachers, a large book search, quick links by exam, and real book covers instead of a building photo. |
| Logo strip / proof bar | Nothing | Trust figures: years in publishing, titles in print, levels covered, bookshop partners (numbers to be confirmed by Sasbadi). |
| Feature card grid | Five icon tiles | Larger level cards with the name, what’s inside (e.g. “Tahun 1–6 · KSSR”) and a title count. |
| Case study with stats | Books of the Month slider | Featured title cards with cover, series tag, level and a clear “View book” link. |
| Dark contrast band | Floating Download Centre box | A dedicated Download Centre section showing what can be downloaded: answer keys, eRevision, textbook resources. |
| Closing call-to-action | Nothing | For schools and bookshops: “Contact our sales team” and “Find a stockist”. |
A layout sketch in Sasbadi green, not final visuals. Book covers are shown as colour blocks, and figures in yellow notes are placeholders to confirm.

Green becomes the single brand accent. The level colours stay, but only on level cards and tags, so they help people find things instead of competing with each other.
Plus Jakarta Sans reads well in both Bahasa Malaysia and English, from big headlines down to ISBN details.
The current home page downloads 77 MB, mostly oversized banner images, and on phones its main content takes about 19 seconds to appear. Rebuilding with Astro on Cloudflare brings that down to a few seconds and adds the missing SEO basics (sitemap, Google and WhatsApp link previews).
